Sadly, I really haven't had access to many foreign and/or indie films this year, and my friend J. Rober would insist that I'm missing out on many great films as a result.  My movie choices, however, were pretty much limited to what was playing at the local cinema. Accordingly, here is my list of the films I enjoyed the most this year. I hope that it is a sort of an unpretentious list.  I don't pretend these are real great movies. Most of them are not, but some of them are.  What did you  like? If you care to see the entire list of 80 films I saw this year, let me know.  It's really rather embarrassing, but could give you a good idea when these 12 films listed below rose to the top of the heap!    - Steve

  • Almost Famous
  • Chicken Run
  • Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
  • Dinosaur
  • Erin Brockovich
