Life's Not Easy
Artist: Splat
Label: Indie (UK)
Length: 13 tracks

Sample
Living to Understand

SPLAT is an earnest young band from the U.K. with a 60's vibe. Dave Minard, an American bass player from New Mexico, is also the lead vocalist and songwriter. Izzy Caughran, the lead guitarist, is originally from Tennessee. Mike Rye, the drummer/vocalist is the only one actually from England.

Most of the music is reminiscent of The Monkeys or The Dave Clark 5. The vocals hail from the Lou Reed school of sound. The best cut, "Living to Understand," is a slower song that talks about the familiar poem of footprints in the sand. The fifth track, "Good Thing," has a great opening, and the seventh track, "Freedom,"  shows a lot of promise. Overall, Life's Not Easy is a fine first effort that could have really shined with further development, better mixing, and recording the vocals with the monitors on.
