Let’s Fly Artist: Cheri Keaggy Label: M2-O Records Worship artists walk a fine line between being performers and ministers. Cheri Keaggy not only walks the line; she dances on it and embraces her role as a worshiper who is an artist. _Let’s Fly_ is a collection of palatable pop mixed with singable worship songs wrapped in a chiffon of artistry with a bow of Phil Keaggy guitar solos for flair. It is quite a present to unwrap. Cheri Keaggy herself acted as producer with co-producers Eddie Keaggy and Dave Dilbeck adding their skills to the package. "Let’s Fly" is the single that will catch the listener’s ears first and lift them to the clouds. If you see the video for this track, the blue skies and puffy cloud motif fits quite nicely with the sound and feel of the song. Keaggy offers jubilant vocals that create a light, happy atmosphere throughout the disc, but also shows depth and sincerity. With a sound somewhere between Sarah Masen and Twila Paris, Keaggy also displays talent as a songwriter, penning all ten songs on the disc. Many songs are direct prayers to the Lord, such as "Suitcase" and "Flooding," while others, like the title track and "Definitely", are encouragement to the believer. "Christ In Me" is the highlight of the disc, closing the collection with a loving touch. This is another CD that can stay in the player on repeat for long periods of time without getting boring or annoying. Keaggy’s songs have pleasant hooks and memorable riffs, and her voice is as pleasing as her photograph. Let’s Fly takes wing and carries Cheri Keaggy to new heights, and is a welcome return to an artist whose talent lies more in her heart than in her surname. Zik Jackson 6/15/2001
