  Regarding
Artist: Refuge
Label: Gray Dot Records
Time: 12 tracks/51:39

The promo materials included with this CD compare Refuge with Third Day --not surprising, considering the latter's popularity, as well as both bands' location in the southeast US. Unfortunately for listeners, there's not much real similarity aside from that. The guitar lines are so repetitive as to be irretrievably grating, and the hook is too high in the mix. The vocals and lyrics are both passable, though not outstanding. There's certainly no questioning their passion for God, though:

Holy Spirit please come now
and set a fire in this place
Please be with me Father
I desire to see Your face
Oh You've touched me
With Your grace
In a land of destruction Your foundation
stays in place.
Give Refuge another few years, another album or two under their belts, and they may be the Next Big Thing. It's hard to see that happening with Regarding, though; the music simply isn't varied and interesting enough.
