Crucify the Flesh
Artist: Spite of Opposition
Label: Clenchedfist Records
Length: 12 tracks/37:01

Spite of Opposition is a band that puts the “hard” in “hardcore.”  This album can be a great release for the headbanger in us, with loud guitars, and pounding bass and drum lines.  After a while, though, you find that headbanging wears you out.  Thankfully, this album includes a lyric sheet, because the vocals here are swallowed by lead singer Mike Lodet.  The lyrics here all well-written, well thought-out, and Scripturally based.  It’s a shame they get buried beneath a wall of sound on this recording.  The song “Revelation”
is an homage musically to the early days of speed metal - it sounds a lot like the Metallica song “One.”
