Frailty
Stars: Bill Paxton, Matthew McConaughey, Powers Boothe
Director: Bill Paxton
Writer: Brent Hanley
Music: Brian Tyler
Lions Gate Films
Running time: 1:47
Rated R for violence and some language

Your dad wakes you up at night with an incredible story: an angel has given him a divine mission to kill "demons," who inhabit the bodies of normal people, and you're supposed to help him kidnap and slay them.
That's the situation that 12-year-old Fenton Meiks (Matthew O'Leary) finds himself in. His brother Adam (Jeremy Sumpter) enthusiastically goes along with the plan, but Fenton knows that it's wrong, so when Dad (Bill
Paxton, who also directed) starts bringing home victims, he must decide what to do.

This is all told in flashback by an adult Fenton Meiks (Matthew McConaughey) to FBI agent Wesley Doyle (Powers Boothe) on a stormy night in Texas. Doyle is skeptical at first, but finds himself getting drawn
deeper into Meiks' dark story.

The "dark story" is called Frailty, a horror/thriller from indie studio Lions Gate. First-time director Paxton does a competent job getting through the material, although as an actor, Paxton comes across as
out-of-control at times, when an understated, restrained performance would have better served the film. McConaughey is excellent as the tortured Meiks, who carries dark secrets with him.
