  Drive Baby Drive
Artist: Mike Nichols
Label: New Cool Now Music
Length: 7/22:33

Drive Baby Drive is an acoustic coffeehouse-meets-blues EP from Mike Nichols.  Vocally, Nichols ranges from Eric Clapton Unplugged territory to Pink Floyd ("By My Side") to Bruce Cockburn ("Fugitive"), and occasionally the vein of guitar impresarios Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd ("What I'll Do").

Nichols' strong point here is his guitar work, technically proficient with a little swagger behind it.  This CD reminds me more of Blaine Howard's recent EP more than anything else, although the songwriting and vocals somewhat less satisfying than that project.  Still, Drive Baby Drive is a pleasant experience.
