Sanguine Artist: Sanguine Label: Independent Length: 3/15:26 Sanguine describes themselves as "sort of like a born-again Dave Matthews without the horns and strings." They list their influences as widespread as John Baez and Metallica. The description was enough to pique my curiosity. "Spilt Coffee" opens the demo, and suffers from a bad mix the vocals get buried here. "When I've Arrived" deals with the hope we all have of reaching our goal, of the pursuit of being like Christ and what we will be like when we get there. Vocally, Jenny Sevier can be compared to Beki Hemingway. "Love in Your Heart" is a graphic depiction of the crucifixion of Christ but reminds the listener that the nails in His hands and feet were a result of the love in His heart. This is the strongest track on the demo musically. There is another song here, but since it's hidden, I'll let the reader check Sanguine's website and see if they can track it down. Prequel has me interested looking forward to hearing the finished album. Brian A. Smith 3/25/2002
