Mueller's
Musings: A Look at May 2003 Releases
The record industry ups the
ante this month with some seriously hot music. On May 6th there are
new releases from Blur, Unwed Sailor, John Hiatt, Goldfrapp, and an EP
from Sea and Cake. The following week John Hiatt gets the tribute treatment
with a whole lotta artists performing his songs. On May 20th Kings
X has a new album of old songs (don't ask...just check it out), while Starflyer
59 is back with a new lineup and one great disc. Also that day is
the powerpop/folk supertrio of The Thorns, and there are also new
discs from The Pernice Brothers, The Incredible Moses Leroy, and the long
awaited disc from Live. Then, wrapping up the month on the 27th,
some nice live music from Led Zeppelin. This includes a 3-cd set
as well as a double DVD set. These discs present live Zep in a way
that "The Song Remains the Same" never could. Also that day is the
debut disc from Joy Electric's Ronnie Martin's new sideproject, Shepherd.
And rumor has it there could be a new CUSH disc this month...but no official
release date has been given.
