Mueller's
Musings: A Look at July 2003 Releases
Up here in the Northeast
the cool, wet weather has given way to some serious heat and humidity.
So head on out to your favorite heavily air conditioned music store and
check out some of these gems. On July 8th you'll wanna look out for
the new "old" 16 Horsepower disc, which features some early recordings
from back in the day before they had a record deal. You'll recognize
many of the songs, but in alternative forms. Also out that day is
the debut disc from All Things Bright and Beautiful, the new band featuring
former Luxury front man Lee Bozeman. If you're a jazz fan (I am,
but only casually) or a fan of the NY Yankees (which I definitely am not!)
July 15th features the debut release from Yankees player Bernie Williams.
This is not your typical "athlete tries to make a record" deal. Williams
is apparently a phenomenal jazz guitarist and is the real deal. Speaking
of guitar, on July 22nd Windham Hill records puts out a disc of songs written
for guitar which features the talents of Dave Matthews, Phil Keaggy, Jars
of Clay, and many more. Should be an interesting listen. Also
out that day are the latest releases from Appleseed Cast and Chris Smither.
Other releases expected this month include the second "spiritual" EP from
CUSH, and the latest entry in the Bob Dylan Bootleg series. So check
out the lists and stay cool.
