Alice
Street and More
Artist: Breathing Machine Label: Indie Length: 10 tracks, 44:57 Breathing Machine is a fine band--solid music, working-class lyrics--and their album, Alice Street And More features outstanding production, great guitar sounds, and emotive vocals. For fans of Buffalo Tom, Daniel Amos, and Hootie and the Blowfish, Alice Street and More will compliment your collection nicely. This is a good album. It may be unfair to fault a good band for sounding too much like a great band (for it’s usually not intentional), but throughout repeated listenings to Breathing Machine’s faultless rock offerings, all I could hear were The Wallflowers. Cory Chisel’s vocals are dead-on Jacob Dylan; the guitar sounds, grooves and feel are all Wallflowers. Again, not a bad thing, but admittedly hard to get past. Greg Adams 4/13/03
