From Jewel With Love: I Can't Hear You
Artist: Jewel Rowe
Parliament Records: PRCD113035 (2003)
Running Length: 72 minutes

Jewel (Ruby Rowe) has a powerhouse voice that turns gospel songs into sensational songs. On this 17-track CD, Jewel and friends run the gamut from energizing ("Help The Children") to blues/gospel ("Lord, Help Me Please") to rap ("Joy.") There is something for everyone. Jewel's friends on this CD are Naddie Conedy, Cathy Davis, Marcella Brewer, Rachel Sanders, Jeannette Sanders Moore and Lady Rose Neale. Jewel's voice is deep and rich, with, at times, a touch of rasp that is endearing especially in "Lord, Help Me Please," "Give It Up," and "Jamin' With Jesus."

Track one admonishes the listener to "…help the children by listening to them…" Other songs have equally important lyrics, for example in "My Father," the words are powerful as "…sometimes I feel like running away, master, help me get through this madness…" The song "Take Me In" contains part of "The Lord's Prayer," while the rap, "Joy," has "Joy for the real McCoy, God brings joy…" "Jesus Is King" is literally a testimony to salvation.

"I Can't Hear You" is a wonderful compilation of songs that shows the versatility of this talented group. This is a CD full of energy and you will find yourself singing and keeping time to the music. It is the first CD for this group and we certainly hope it won't be the last. The selections are carefully recorded with good balance between instruments and voice. Not only that, but the words come through to the listener, which is important in spreading the Word.
