  First Last Chance
Artist: Lower Lights Burning
Label: Indie

If I was a frequenter of bars (which I’m not) Lower Lights Burning would be the sort of band I’d expect to be playing.  This is good old country rock, you know, that rockin’ guitar with a huge country flavor.  Listening to this six track E.P., First Last Chance, one name keeps popping into my mind over and over, a certain Mr Charlie Daniels.  In fact L.L.B. could be the musical equivalent of a smash up between Charlie Daniels and the Rolling Stones.

To be honest, musically it does sound a bit samey, which I suppose some people would call style.  I certainly think this band would be good live in that bar room setting.

Lyrically, they have some gems; these are life stories fused with hope and grace.

Sometimes you bargain for more that you get’ (Written in Stone), must surely some up most of our lives.
Oh, poor and lonely one, where do you go, to the crossroads of sin and grace, outside of Jericho (Road to Jericho)
‘I don’t want your truth it comes out sounding like lies’ (Black Star).

Lower Lights Burning are worth catching out, if your thing is a country/rock thing.  Catch them live at a bar room near you.
