  Jill Paquette
Artist: Jill Paquette
Reunion Records 02341-0031-2 (2003)
Running Length: 45 minutes

Jill Paquette's lyrics are frank and forward. Each song on this CD is a conversation about something that just happened. It can be with another person ("So Close") or with the Lord ("Free" or "Come To Me"). Jill's lyrics can be incisive, as in "broken and battered your confidence shattered, but I'm still here." However, listening from one selection to another, you notice the sameness of the arrangements. One exception is "Broken," which is presented after the acoustic guitar solo by Paquette, "There To Here." "Broken" has eloquent words: "if choices are free, then why aren't they mine anymore, my sin goes before me closing doors." The accompaniment is full and rich. For the rest of the songs, variation is sparse, and though one can appreciate the intensity of words, by the end of the CD, it takes a minute to remember what you just listened to.
