Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country  (Collectors' Edition)

The Collectors Edition of Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country is out on a two-disc set. The film concludes the story of the legendary crew of the Enterprise as they prepare their ship for decommission.

Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner), is overseeing his good friend, Captain Spock (Leonard Nimoy), as he has assigned the crew of the Enterprise to receive a peace envoy from the deadly Klingons. The Klingons have recently encountered a severe disaster and are in need of help if they are to survive. Faced with extinction, the Klingons have made peace overtures to their long-standing enemies the Federation. Forced to put aside years of mistrust and hostilities between the two species, Kirk reluctantly agrees to meet the Klingon leader (David Warner), and escort his ship to Earth for peace talks.

Fate however has different plans, the mission takes and unexpected turn as Kirk and his crew become locked in a dangerous game of political intrigue that threatens not only them, but the future peace and security of the Federation. The supporting cast is great and director Nicholas Myers is solid in his return to the Trek Directors chair.  Commentaries on the films soundtrack are very informative and insightful. The effects from ILM are first rate and the pacing of the film is easily one of the best of any Trek outing. This is a thinking mans Trek as you do not have to be a fan of the series to appreciate this film. The mature themes presented of aging, loss, revenge, and betrayal lead to elements of good drama and the second disc is stuffed with features and interviews making this a collection well worth owning.

Star Trek VI is widely regarded by fans as one of the best film in the series and with this fantastic collection, the best just got better.
