Prayers
Artist: 1000 Generations Label: Simplistic Records URL: <http://www.1000generations.com> Times: 11 tracks An immediate point of reference: don't confuse this 1000 Generations with the Atlanta, Georgia Vineyard 1000 Generations band. Steven and Amanda Potaczek are worship leaders for the Indianapolis Vineyard 1000 Generations band. While this debut release is indie, don't let that fact scare you away. This work is quite creative and innovative, showing plenty of promise. The band turns in an absolutely beautiful version of the already spiffy song "He is Yahweh" (originally from the Vineyard Canada _All I Need_), and Steven Potaczek's jazz background shines through on songs such as "Eyes" (cross Steely Dan with Paul Simon and/or your favorite folk artists, and there's a possible comparison), "Obsessed," and "Lily of the Valley." _Prayers_ is an incredibly pleasing listening experience, and I'm certain we're going to hear plenty in the future from this 1000 Generations band. In the extra points department, chord charts, mp3s and tour dates are available on its well-maintained, up-to-date web site. Olin Jenkins July 10, 2004
