  Consuming Fire
Artist: Darrell Evans & Friends
Label: Spirit Led Records
length: 15 tracks/69:42 min

Worshipping God in spirit and in truth is not an option for believers, it is imperative. As our LORD Himself said in the Gospel of John - "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipper shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him."

So it's not about the mechanics - formats, genres or forms, it's about spirit and truth - what's inside us. In other words, it's all about Him, not us. So much of what has been touted as so-called "worship" music focuses on the "how-to" and not the "who" and thankfully, Darrell Evans has managed to avoid these pitfalls in a worship ministry that has been a blessing to many.

I hesitate to comment that Evans has written songs that are now staples in many a church service worldwide as that sound so clichéd but would rather state that as a lead worshipper he has provided an example for worshippers everywhere. That is why I believe that Consuming Fire is an important document of worship, a tool, a springboard for your own personal or group worship, where you can find your place, your own point of reference in your worshipping relationship with the Lord. Sure, there are great songs here - "Fields of Grace," "Exalted," "Precious Jesus," and Paul Baloche's "My Reward," but more than that, let Consuming Fire be a catalyst for seeking a closer walk with Him as we host His Presence on this planet.
