The
J Moss Project
Artist: J Moss Label: Pajam / Gospocentric URL: http://www.gospocentric.com 15 / 51:52 Do you ever wonder about how talented the people who work behind the scenes are? The guys who work in the studio on the mixing board.... they need musical talent of some kind too, right? The answer is yes. And in the case of James Moss (J Moss), the answer is an emphatic YES. A man who has spent years helping to produce other artists (Hezekiah Walker, Boyz II Men, etc) is now stepping out on his own with an extremely impressive debut: _The J Moss Project_. Opening track "I Wanna Be" gets things off to a strong start both musically and lyrically. "I wanna be emotional / I wanna be responsible / I wanna be a laborer / I wanna live in favor" It is apparent that Moss has learned quite a bit behind the mixing board. Equally as impressive in song is the overall production (which J did himself along with Paul Allen). The music jumps out at you and makes you want to join a choir. Throughout the disc, there are both fast numbers and slow ballads. The formula is familiar, but it never gets boring. Moss continues to surprise throughout the album mostly through his lyrical content. "Don't Pray and Worry" was right on time for me, personally. "Livin' 4" deals with staying pure in a relationship, and "You Brought Me" questions how God can love someone who isn't worthy. It is apparent that J Moss has a deep love for the Lord and this shines through the recording. His voice is strong as are his own background vocals. Even if you're not a fan of R and B or gospel music, I don't believe anyone could not enjoy this cd. Levi Stofer 10/11/2004
