Verona
Artist: Josiah Label: Indie Vision Music Time: 11 tracks Back around the year of 1998 spirit-filled hardcore music was at its peak, a trend that has all but died off. Spirit-filled hardcore is barely holding on by its fingernails. However, now on the scene a band named Josiah, and their mission is "to revitalize the spirit-filled hardcore scene and bring Christ back into the equation." Not the run of the mill chug chug band, Josiah blisters through the work of mixing up the core. One can hear youth crew/gang vocals, to modern day breakdowns, to hardcore with melody thrown in, and old school hardcore influence. The music strives to be different, and it succeeds. Verona should be enjoyed by listening all the way through. This CD goes into a passion to get Jesus' love out there, building on each track. Verona could be tighter but consider this, Josiah is barely a year and a half old. With clear cut, unashamed lyrics about life under Jesus' banner, and life in general, look for Verona from Josiah to help "revitalize the spirit-filled hardcore scene." Len Nash 6/8/2004
