Bringin’ It Home: Live in Cincinnati
Artist: Nicole C. Mullen
Label: Word/Curb/Warner Bros.
Length: 15 tracks / 71:11 min

Christian music divas can usually be categorized in one of two groups: youthful, dance-prone pop queens or big-voiced divas of Celine and Whitney caliber.  Borrowing nonchalantly from both, Nicole C. Mullen makes her live debut with this energetic set of choreographed, techno-pop numbers (“Talk About It,” “Freedom”), emotive, hair-raising anthems (“Redeemer,” “Call On Jesus”), and worshipful moments of praise (“Victory,” “O Come All Ye Faithful”) that display her versatility both as a vocalist and performer. The use of pre-recorded instrumental layers (the strings in “Call On Jesus,” for example) in addition to her capable backup band certainly call into question the legitimacy of this live album, but in the end it’s Mullen’s commanding soprano and her knack for penning AC-leaning songs that people both old and young can appreciate which make Bringin’ It Home: Live in Cincinnati something you can safely bring home.
