Artist: Rhymz Suhreal
Label: Humble Pie Records
Length: 12/53:44

Rhymz Suhreal is husband and wife rap team Becky and Zak Alwin.  They trade vocals throughout the CD, merging old school rap with R&B and samples of classic rock interspersed here and there (“You Don’t Know” is built around the 70’s staple “Magic Carpet Ride”).

Neither vocalist stands out as a rapper, falling short of the standards set by KJ-52 or newcomers Mars Ill.  Becky can sing, and perhaps should consider doing that more in future endeavors.  “Solid Cold” is a Carribean instrumental, while “We Are” is an 80’s throwback that reminds me of one hit wonder T’Pau.

This is a perfect example of a group that will be hot with its target audience (teens), but fails to strike a chord with me.  When it comes to husband and wife teams, give me Buddy and Julie Miller, or Beki Hemingway/Randy Kerkman any time.  Rhymz Suhreal gets no points for spelling, and only a few more for this self-titled release.
