Highway to Heaven - Season 2
Starring Michael Landon and Victor French
A&E TV
Length: 6 DVDs / 19 Hours 12 minutes plus extras

All too often I seem to think of Springsteen's song, "57 Channels and Nothing On" when I turn of the television, but with the current craze to release old television series on DVD, that's less of a problem. I just pop in one of my favorite old series and relax..

Highway to Heaven was about Jonathon Smith, an angel sent by God, aka "The Boss," who partners with ex-cop Mark Gordon. They travel from town-to-town helping people turn their lives around and find their Highways to Heaven. The show ran for five years on NBC, first airing September 1984. This box set includes 24 episodes. The show was the forerunner of 7th Heaven, Touched by an Angel, and Joan of Acadia.

My favorite episode was "Bless the Boys in Blue," where Mark asks God to make Jonathan a cop for while. After 40 years, Jonathan becomes human only to realize only to realize the harsh realities of being a policeman. There is also a episode, "The Torch," where a Neo-Nazi saves the life of a Holocaust survivor. The season also touched on cancer, the death of a child, and many other themes that still seem relevant today.

So you might want to escape for a while with your family while Jonathan and Mark brings a little grace and love into the lives of those they touches.
