Herbie: Fully Loaded
Studio: Disney
Time: 101 min.

Herbie is back and fully loaded for family fun as Disney gives an overhaul to its famous 'sixties love bug and who better than Lindsey Lohan to drive Number 53 into the hearts of a new generation and the world of Nascar?

Maggie Peyton (Lohan) comes from a long line of race car drivers including her father Ray Peyton Sr. (Michael Keaton). But the team isn't what it used to be and they are losing sponsors at every turn. Add a competitive, ego-boosted hot shot (Matt Dillon) and trouble is not far behind. But what better then a car with heart and attitude to save a family business and help a young girl find her true calling?

Unfortunately Herbie can’t save his own movie. Kids will love Herbie because of his free spirit and slapstick auto antics, but adults may come out feeling they have been taken for a ride.  This film is loaded but not with any new surprises, character depth, or humor. It simply plays it safe and puts all its effort into making you feel sorry for Herbie. This car frowns and sighs more than I did at Elektra.

Herbie: Fully Loaded is rated G. Even the most uptight individuals will have a hard time finding any grease in this film's chassis. And unfortunately, they will find even fewer laughs. I give Herbie . Too much competition these days in the world of family films to skimp on plot and characters.
