Wedding Crashers URL: http://www.theweddingcrashers.com Wedding Crashers had so much potential, as it has a very unique story line with the makings of what could have been a very funny movie. For some reason, however, director David Dobkin and writers Steve Faber & Bob Fisher thought we needed another "foul infested, lets-have-old-guys-be-crude-to-get-teens-to-laugh, sophomoric, waste of everyone's time" comedy. But here's a tip, newbies--we don't need any more! John (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy (Vince Vaughn) are best friends who have inherited a foolproof way of scoring with chicks. They crash weddings using aliases and well-crafted dialogue. All is well and good until one of them falls in love with a senator's daughter (Rachel McAdams). Wilson and Vaughn work perfectly together in the buddies-for-life role. The guys have a comfortable relationship with each other that has evidently been in existence over the years. They conveyed that very well in this film. Owen's soft-spoken easiness and Vince's hardhearted sarcasm flow nicely. The biggest writing flaw is that the powers-that-be could not seem to figure out what type of movie they wanted to make. By the time they got to the serious relationship section of the film, they had bombarded us with so much American Pie meets Porky's that it came off as idiotic and terribly out of place. Wedding Crashers is rated R for sexual content/nudity and language. It earns every bit of this rating and then some. Call me stupid, but I believe they could have trimmed out a lot of material and had a very funny PG-13 movie that would have been a lot better than this racy romp. In fact, I don't think I want to waste any more time on this movie. I'm done. I give it 1 out of 5 elopements. With a spin on Wedding Crashers, I'm Matt Mungle. "Matt hosts the weekly syndicated
Indie Rock Radio Show Spin 180. Plus with his wife Cindy they do a weekly
radio feature, The Mungles on Movies. For additional reviews and interview
