Jaime Jamgochian
Artist: Jaime Jamgochian
Label: Centricity Records
Length: 11 tracks

Jaime Jamgochian (pronounced ja me jam go zhen) is the most recent artist to release a CD with upstart Centricity Records. Her self titled eleven track album showcases great vocals by Jamgochian and is wonderfully arranged. Jamgochian however faces a steep uphill climb in the crowded CCM / Inspo market where often there are a surplus of voices and not enough radio rotation spots to go around.

Think Point of Grace or Canada’s Carried Away and sonically you have the feel of Jamgochian’s music. The difference is the aforementioned groups are trios and Jamgochian is a solo artist. The similarities are particularly noticeable on the first two tracks "Heart of Heaven" and "Faithful One." On "Heart of Heaven" the introductory track she also plays the piano as she does throughout the album. She is so gifted as both a pianist and composer that you could take away her vocals and still have a recording worthy of your time.

The use of strings adds texture to songs such as the beautiful "Restore My Soul" and "Where are You." The symphonic element in the more upbeat "More Than I Can Give" energizes the listener.

"Restore My Soul" which seems to have been inspired by Psalm 23 is beautifully orchestrated and is the only song on this album penned by a hand other than Jamgochian’s. Alison and Scott Anderson combined to write "Restore My Soul." Unless however there is a separate mix for radio you probably won’t hear this tune even on the Inspo airwaves because it is five minutes and six seconds long. Tracks ten and eleven face the same challenges as "Wash Me" clocks in at 6:11 and Worship at 7:20.

The strength of this album lies with Jamgochian’s songwriting ability. An honors graduate from Berklee School of Music in Boston she has created a collection of tunes where not one note is out of place and the lyrics elevate our praise to God.

The key to Jamgochian’s success is going to rest with how she is managed and promoted. If her management team can get people out to her concerts there is no question in my mind her records will sell. We may soon see those results as she is touring with Rebecca St James and Point of Grace on the Girls of Grace Tour this fall.

Jaime Jamgochian is a talented new artist with a CD that would make a fine centerpiece for any Inspo / CCM collection.
