While I Was On Earth
Artist: John Reilly Band
Label: Independent
Length: 12 Tracks / 47:54

John Reilly Band is one of those groups with a sound that is hard to label, hard to put into words.  In some ways they have a folk sound but their sound also has a bit of acoustic rock mixed in.  The group also uses more guitars and drums than you would normally find on a folk project. The group also throws in some Celtic and jazz sounds to make a sound that is definitely different.

Highlights of this project include the third track, "This Day" with its relaxed, acoustic feel, track six where one of the female group members contributes lead vocals, and the worshipful ninth track.

Some may grow tired of the fact that some tracks start with more than the usual length instrumental intros before the vocals kick in, such as on track 6, where the vocals don't kick in until the 26 second mark.
