  Sick City
Artist: Jesus Wept
Label: Strike First Records (www.strikefirstrecords.com)
Time: 7 tracks

Sometimes it takes an influence of old school. Sometimes it takes a need to be more raw and rock out. Sometimes a person needs to feel the spit fly from the speakers. Sick City by Jesus Wept is spitfire hardcore music. While it is only seven songs, it proves that xDisciplex A.D. did not stop. This is where xDx A.D. left off and Jesus Wept began.

A small while back, Erie, Pennsylvania hxc heavyweights--and one of the underground's most respected bands--called it quits. Soon thereafter, another band from Erie, Pennsylvania rose up. Jesus Wept featured all members from xDisciplex A.D. On Sick City, every instrument is felt, and each one screams in its own way. The bass is a heavy, noticeable twang that sets the pace. The drums provide actual rough and quite precise percussion with a nice punishing dose of double bass pedals. The guitars provide a necessary chop and grind that is played thoroughly and drops a neat piece of music into the equation.

The name Jesus Wept says it all; this band is not afraid to show their faith. Although a name can just be a name, the lyrics back up this "label" by clearly talking about faith, struggles, and life in Christ and under God. Fans of underground hxc and fans of xDisciplex A.D., pick this up ASAP!
