Until The Last Seal Is Opened….
Artist: Pale Horse
Label: Bombworks Records
URL: www.bombworksrecords.com
Time: 15 Tracks / 56:29

Pale Horse makes bone shattering metal music that is not for the faint of heart. Guitarist Jerry DeMaio assures us of this fact with his all out guitar shredding assault. Listen to track seven, “Persecution,” and you’ll have an idea of what I’m talking about. Thrash/Death metal is Pale Horse’s forte and they handle it exceptionally well. The heavy rhythms they create will satisfy anyone who is a fan of this genre. Lyrically, they handle some deep subject matter from false prophets in our modern era to pouring yourself out before the Lord. The sincerity in the guttural vocals which are handled by lead singer Rich Olson are layered with such intensity you feel the honesty in what he sings. What I like best about this album are the change ups throughout. For example, they use the double bass drum but they don’t use it to death like a lot of other metal bands who get the double bass going, throw some guitars on top and then scream at the top of their lungs. Thankfully, Pale Horse is not one of these bands, they oscillate between “clean” and “growling” vocals but not too much that it becomes distracting. They incorporate some speed metal into their songs but there is enough variety that if you like thrash, doom or speed metal you can enjoy this album. Fans of Living Sacrifice and Norma Jean will find a lot to be enjoyed on Until The Last Seal Is Opened… I look forward to hearing more from this band. These guys definitely rock!
