Live Experience 2
Artist: Leon Patillo
Label: Tag Artist Group
Length: 10 tracks, 59:53

Recently, I found myself involved in one of those "Whatever happened to so-and-so?" conversations that seem to occur among music fans, and a name that came up in discussion was Leon Patillo. I'm happy to report that, after six years of relative silence, Patillo is back and in fine form with this re-release of his independently released 2002 project Live Experience 2. From the old Patillo classics such as "J.E.S.U.S." to new favorites such as the anthemic "Pullin' Down Strongholds," Patillo's voice is in fine form.

The highlight of the album for me is Leon's rewrite of Santana's classic "Black Magic Woman." While the track lacks the Latin percussion that gave the original its groove, the new "Born Again Woman" still packs a punch. The lyrics are a modern psalm of praise for a Godly woman.

It's official: Leon Patillo is back, and here's hoping future offerings are up to his high standards.
