  Energy
Artist: Poor Man's Riches
Label: Word of Mouth Records (Indie)
Length: 38 minutes

For an independent band trying to broaden its base, being compared to an already-famous band can be downright aggravating. No one wants to labeled or pigeonholed before they even have a chance to be heard.

Poor Man's Riches sounds like Creed and Alice in Chains. Don't let that fool you, though...their debut album Energy is a pleasure to listen to, from the Creed-sounding title track "Energy" to the very end. Why? They sound like good Creed,/Alter Bridge, instead of Bad Creed/Alter Bridge.

Unfortunately, they just lost their lead guitarist to the infamous college education. They will be playing 150 shows this year with a temporary guitarist named "Fuzzy," and if you can play, the Kentucky-based band might be interested in you: pmr@poormansriches.com

Are you sad because there wasn't an extra disc in your Alice in Chains boxed set? Is your heart troubled because Creed's Greatest Hits didn't have a couple of extra tracks on it? Turn your frown upside down by listening to Energy.
