  Eclipse Piano Tribute to Evanescence
Artist: Ark Sano
Label: Vitamin Records
Length: 53:50

Tribute albums don't usually work very well. With tendencies toward  muszak and elevator/background music, they are usually just for the most hard core fans. Too often they are the mistake presents your parents get when trying to give something the young people will like. And Evanscence without Amy Lee's searching vocals is hard to imagine.

Ark Sano's piano offering is all of the of the above.  If it wasn't for Ben Moody's melodies, this album would be a complete washout for me. Sano's playing is definitely adequate, but it lacks a solid atmosphere. There is some emotion here on songs like "Tourniquet" and "Whisper," though this song seems to never end. "Immortal" is enjoyable with some tension created and emphasis on a wonderful , building melody.

Unfortunately there is little new here that brings out clarity and brilliance of the combination of Ben Moody and Amy Lee.
