Lindsey Kane
Lake Hills Church, Austin Texas
June 25, 2006

Southern belle Lindsey Kane walked across the Lake Hills stage, guitar in hand and opened her set with the easy going pop melody "Satisfied" the title track from her debut CD. Kane dressed in blue jeans, pink sleeveless shirt, black crocheted vest and sandals received an instant endorsement from her hometown fans with calls of "Lindsey we love you".

Although Kane is still at the beginning of her music career the Texas A&M graduate demonstrated the poise of a performer many years her senior. Her witty remarks made an instant connect with the audience. For instance when her fans began to clap to the song "Move Me Aside" Kane stopped strumming her guitar and singing to say, "This is not a clapping song." She then added, "Since most of us are Anglo Saxons we would only screw it up (if it were a clapping song)." She also humorously recalled her performance the previous night at an outdoor concert in Ohio. She described a huge crowdnot! She spoke about wallowing in mud while wearing high heels, finally abandoning them for bare feet. She joked about the fifty degree temperature contributing to frostbite on all her toes.

There is much more to Lindsey Kane than humor however. This is a talented singer/songwriter born and raised in Texas. She writes thoughtful and inspiring lyrics such as the ones comprising "Measure Of Beauty." The song takes its inspiration from Song of Solomon 4:7. "Measure Of Beauty" is an affirmation missive for women young and old. It serves as reminder that they are wonderfully created. During the song Kane demonstrated another side to her musicianship as her fingers mastered the electric keys. During the song's introduction she encouraged her audience to turn to women and girls seated near them and speak the words, "There is no flaw in you" a message that was embossed on the pink Lindsey Kane tee shirts sold following the concert.

Kane's ever present smile endeared her to the audience as much as her pop tunes excited their ears. She is a versatile performer who displayed an unexpected facet to her music when she rapped the middle portion of "Whatever It May Be" an up tempo hand clapper.

During Kane's set which preceded a BarlowGirl's concert the singer also performed her gentle ballad "He Knows" and the tune "What Were You Thinking."

The Lake Hills Church was a wonderful venue to both see and hear a concert. The triple overhead screens provided crisp pictures of the performers that would rival any major venue in North America. The sound technicians were capable and the volunteer staff was well organized. The good people at Lake Hills made this the easiest concert I have ever covered.
