The Crossing - October 2006 Edition

Hello kidz. Welcome back to America’s favorite new music release “program”. Here’s where the stars shine and the rock roars! Ridiculous, I know. But, tell me this, what band has been around longer than most likely you and is about to release their first new album in a whopping 24 years!?! Who, you ask? That’s right...and then there were two: the legendary British rock ‘n roll outfit The Who. For all of their offstage behavior and shenanigans I’m not sure I can actually go ahead and recommend this latest opus, but for all their classic songs of the past, it’s okay to still recognize them their rightful place in the Rock pantheon. That album comes out way late in the month anyhow...so let’s see what else is cooking...

As you will plainly see from the list below, it’s that time of year for Christmas albums and greatest hits packages aka stocking stuffers. There’s so much crammed into the list below, that I encourage going over the list again and again so as not to miss anything. I usually print up a given week’s offering then head to the stores with it in tow anyway. That way, you won’t miss anything. U2 coffee table book - check. Hot current bands such as The Killers, The Decemberists or Evanescence - check. New Sting classical vanity lute project - check. New Christmas album from Twisted Sister - check. So.......it’s all here! You can’t beat this with a stick. Rock ‘n Roll is here
to stay my friends...and this is how you know when to get it.

Let it snow........er, let it roll.......

LYRICS of the MONTH:

This song is timely and I think it’s plain funny.

       “The clock’s running down
        The team’s losing ground
        To the opposing defense
        The young quarterback
        Waits for the snap
When suddenly it all makes sense

He’s got all kinds of time
He’s got all kinds of time
        All kinds of time
He’s got all kinds of time
        All kinds of time

        He takes a step back
        He’s under attack
But he knows no one can touch him now
        He seems so at ease
        A strange inner peace
Is all that he’s feeling somehow

He’s got all kinds of time
He’s got all kinds of time
        All kinds of time
He’s got all kinds of time
        All kinds of time

        He thinks of his mother
        He thinks of his bride-to-be
        He thinks of his father
        His two younger brothers
        Gathered around the widescreen TV

        He looks to the left
        He looks to the right
And there in a golden ray of light
        Is his open man
        Just like he planned
The whole world is his tonight”

Fountains Of Wayne, the song “All Kinds of Time” off the album Welcome Interstate Managers.

I understand the need for Christmas albums to come three months early (only half serious), but if we can hold off on the snow for awhile longer, that would be great.

Happy Halloween everyone and see you in November!
