with fiercest demolition
Artist: Ghost of the Russian Empire
Label; Thirty Ghosts Records
Length: 6 tracks/ 28:35

The debut release from Ghost of the Russian Empire is fresh and promising, a mixture of particular '90’s sounds – My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead – into a style that feels both uplifting and challenging.  Perhaps most importantly, with fiercest demolition provides a memorable first impression from this young band; they’ve created a first EP that does its job well of presenting why they’re a young band to care about.

Most tracks feature beautiful, enrapturing melodies punctuated by fuzzy vocals and droning guitar effects, a slightly less poppy, more rock-oriented My Bloody Valentine, and deserving of comparisons to recent releases from acts like The Listening.  Their EP is good, but their LP should be excellent.  If their debut is any sign, we should have a quality new band on our hands.  This is a young band absolutely worthy of attention.
