Girls, girls, girls.  This foursome female act from LA brings their stripped down, dark and breathy sound to disc for the second time, a short yet impressive four-song release.  “Deadline” and “Live Without You” are simple and seductive, with sparse guitars, buzzed-out drum loops, and chirping flutes, perfect for a late-night listening session.  “Act of Birth” shifts a gear from the initial songs’ sultriness for a more melancholic entry, and deceptively brightens the mood before finishing its theme of broken and betrayed love with the repeated line, “If you don’t kill us both soon/I think I’m gunna disappear”.  The final song, “Let You Down”, finishes the record with an unabashed fess-up, asking tenaciously of her lover – “I let you down/ So easily/Why so calm?/ Don’t you care?/ Aren’t you sad?”

Simple and sumptuous song writing and a provocative sound – these talented ladies have what it takes.  Their EP is good, and a full-length would be great to hear.  With still another EP in the works beforehand, a longer recording may not land soon, but its certainly worth hoping for.
