Life on the Inside
Artist: Jadon Lavik
Label:  BEC Recordings
Length: 13 Tracks/51.40 Minutes

Life on the Inside is filled with delectable, light hearted, faith based pop-rockers from Jadon Lavik.  Lavik is a former worship leader from Saddleback Church who has cooked up a nice batch of tunes on Life on the Inside that will appeal to fans of James Taylor, Chris Rice, and John Mayer. Inside is filled with catchy acoustic gems and radio-ready worship tunes (like the classy “Father”) that make a great soundtrack for sitting on the porch swing.  Lavik has a nice, cozy laid-back singing style (with an oh-so-slight country flavor) that fits the music well There are some nice musical touches on Life on the Inside, including a hint of slide guitar  and Fender Rhodes on “His Name Shall Be Called,” and some jazzy touches on “Never Alone.”

DJ Barry

Barry Nothstine hosts Soul Frequency (http://www.soulfrequency.com ) a weekly FM radio show showcasing progressive rock, instrumental rock, power-pop, psychedelic rock, rock classics and more—great rock for the ages!

Life on the Inside is Jadon Lavik's sophomore release on BEC. His path to this point doesn't run from point A to point B without more than a few detours. Prior to beginning his solo career, Lavik pursued many other areas in life. After college, he tried to make it into major league baseball. When that didn't work out, he tried his hand at selling real estate, headed to seminary, and started playing guitar to facilitate his personal worship time. This time of personal worship segued into a two year internship at Saddleback Church. Due to the experience and visibility this opportunity provided, Lavik came to the attention of BEC.

The education and experience in leading worship is evident on this CD. Some of songs, such as “His Name Shall be Called,” seem to be formulaic worship songs. Others delve a little deeper and get into living the life as a Christian, and following what following what God has for your life.

Meant to Be”
You wake up to find that you’re right where supposed to be
Trapped in uncertainty each day’s a mystery
You wake up to find that you’re right where you’re supposed to be
The past is unveiled and you see you’re right where you’re meant to be
Many believers can relate to the sentiment here. Knowing you are right where you need to be, but having no idea what the next step is supposed to be. Living in a mystery, guided by faith.

The CD runs lyrically from a little predictable to impressive. Lavik's voice has a smooth The acoustic guitar based music is clean and catchy. Most of it is fairly light sounding. Not approaching the higher energy style of fellow BEC artist Jeremy Camp, but very solid. The last song on the CD, “It's Yours” has the richest sound of all thirteen songs. If your a fan of praise-pop, you should find this CD enjoyable.
