Well Meaning Fiction Artist: Mainstay Label: BEC Recordings Length: 11 Tracks/38.49 Minutes Mainstay is a band that shows a lot of promise, much of which is fulfilled on their debut release Well Meaning Fiction. Modern-rock fans who enjoy Sanctus Real, Switchfoot, Falling Up, Copeland, and Kutless will want to pick this one up. Fiction spotlights a tasty lineup of eleven hooky current-sounding pop rockers capably produced by Aaron Sprinkle & Zach Hodges. Outstanding vocalist Justin Anderson sings with passion and conviction over a solid-rock instrumental foundation. The lyrics on Well Meaning Fiction focus on some weighty topics in an interesting way, encouraging believers and seekers to find the Truth. At times the band plays it a wee bit on the safe side, musically speaking but overall this is a solid debut from a band to keep your eyes (and ears!) on. DJ Barry Barry Nothstine hosts Soul Frequency ( http://www.soulfrequency.com) a weekly FM radio show showcasing progressive rock, instrumental rock, power-pop, psychedelic rock, rock classics and more—great rock for the ages!
Well Meaning Fiction Artist: Mainstay Label: BEC Length: 11 tracks Sincere. That is the first word that comes to mind upon listening Mainstay's debut release, Well Meaning Fiction. Vocalist Justin Anderson delivers the goods in the same manner as The Afters: somewhat soft spoken and well thought out. You will want to know what he is talking about. The harmonies are excellent. You might call this grunge pop. A real sense of melody and hook. Time well spent. Bob Felberg 6/12/2006
