Long Way Home
Artist: Ginny Owens
Label: Rocketown Records
Time: 10 tracks/ 43:43

Ginny Owens is one of those rare singer songwriters who has the ability to fashion and perform a song that strikes right at the heart of the listener.  Over the years she has built up a reputation as one of the best singer songwriters, especially out of those who craft lyrics that are simple and yet also vivid and thought-provoking.  One example of this is on the album's second track, "Fellow Traveler" where she sings:

Fellow traveler, let me take you
To a place where I've found rest
Fellow seeker, let me show you
Where I've found true happiness
Fellow beggar, I have good news
I know where there is bread
I'll show you where there's bread.
Owens is also knows for her unique sound of pop with a touch of jazz thrown in and it shines through on this album, which may easily be her best yet.  One example of this can be seen in the title track "Long Way Home."  She also has no problem spicing things up musically as she does with the synth-driven opening to the first track "Waiting for Tomorrow" or the rock-driven "Pieces."

Long Way Home shows that Ginny Owens is at the top of her game.  This release is one that belongs in your CD player and the CD players of your friends.
