The Cox Sintrific
Artist:  Stranger Lazy
Label: Indie
Time: 44:23

For a little while, Stranger Lazy almost got kicked out of the CD player. I found the first song a bit annoying. I chose to persevere and was rewarded with aural pleasure. Lighthearted sounds and soaring vocals lift you up and carry you away.

The lyrics are a little disjointed. I was sometimes left wondering where they were headed, or how they got here in the first place. Here, as an example, is the opener from “And I Punched It.”

This is a language,
 I'll say a word.
 Never explaining,
 how it's versed.
 I am a vampire,
 in your world.
Then there's “3..4..5,” which seems to be more cohesive.
 Life appears!
 I found it outside,
 and counted up
 the time it takes
to ever see what it's worth.
 Ran out of light
now I fear the amount of downtime,
 awaiting us tonight.
Overall, this is an enjoyable, interesting CD from a bunch of guys who spend their spare time hunting quail and playing bocce ball.
