Tony Terry is one of those artists you're sure you've heard of before ever listening to any of his songs. He has performed with Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, and a host of others. He has appeared on numberous TVshows, and in several movie soundtracks, and has also done some off-Broadway acting. With that impressive resume, how does Changed! come off, you ask?

In a nutshell, it's about what you'd expect from someone who's been writing R&B songs for twenty years. "Praise Him" is in the Brian McKnight/Stevie Wonder vein, as is "Look to the Hills." The album is replete with vocal runs, gospel choirs, and a plethora of background singers. The title track is a throwback to Negro spirituals, featuring spoken word, solo vocals, and singing by choirs. Most of the songs here fall somewhere between Jodeci and Boyz II Men in terms of music and style. 

"He's a Friend of Mine" resembles old school Michael Jackson (think of Michael as a fresh-faced young man, pre-Thriller), and a remix of "Praise Him" just is way too long. "Still Working" employs the worst trend in modern music: the computerized vocals that Cher made popular several years ago. Undeniably, Terry has talent. Fans of '80's R&B will love it, and even some of the 50- and 60-somethings will find much to appreciate on Changed!
