Bring
Us Peace
Artist: Ginny Owens Label: Length: 10 Tracks 32:27 On the Christmas album Bring Us Peace Ginny Owens covers some of the traditional Christmas carols such as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),” “In The Bleak Midwinter,” –which she does without any instruments to accompany her“It Came Upon A Midnight Clear,” and she even takes on “Ave Maria” in Latin with no instrumentation. This makes the track absolutely stunning. One can close ones eyes and picture being in an old church building with stained glass windows and candles. It’s a very comforting thing. That track is immediately followed by “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” with only a piano to accompany Ginny’s beautiful voice. At times her voice may remind the listener of Norah Jones, yet at times she can also sound almost like a young girl. There are also some original Christmas songs on the album that are respectable in their own right. The one that stood out most to me was called “This Is Christmas.” This album radiates with the warmth and cheer of all that Christmas is, and would make a nice addition to anyone’s collection.
