American Dream Artist: Lyrycyst Label: KOCH Entertainment Length: 11 Tracks/43.28 Minutes Stop making crappy music and they may just purchase I was worried a bit when I popped in this CD...with the name Lyrycyst I was a bit afraid this might be frighteningly bad rap wannabe stuff. I'm glad to report that my fears were soon wiped out as I began jamming and singing along to the first thumping sounds of "Showbiz." American Dream showcases the solid rap skills of Lyrycyst over some very cool beats...ranging from infectious dance tracks, acoustic guitars, and rocking beats. Lyrycyst is unafraid to say it like he sees it, boldly preaching and proclaiming that there is a different way than the American Dream and unafraid to touch on topics like abortion, masturbation, lust, poverty, violence, drugs, and marital infidelity (taking some jabs at a former President in the process). American Dream is a bit heavy-handed at times as Lyrycyst spotlights the flaws of our modern society while pointing to the hope that we possess. I've got a feeling Lyrycyst will be popping up on Christian radio soon...check him out and see what he thinks of the American Dream. Barry Nothstine hosts Soul Frequency Radio ( http://www.soulfrequency.com), a weekly freeform FM radio show showcasing progressive rock, instrumental rock, power-pop, psychedelic rock, rock classics, blues, and more—great rock for the ages!
