Mothers
of Grace Club
Artist: Maeve Label: Independent Tracks: 12 Mothers of Grace Club is the latest release from the Boston based band named Maeve. The group consists of three young ladies, Rachel Taylor, Rollyn Zoubek, and Courtney Reid. This album is the band's fourth release and was produced by master producer and sonic wizard Nico Boesten. The project was recorded in the Boston area and mixed and mastered down around the Nashville area. As a matter of fact, the girls are working on a January release with Nashville guru Charlie Peacock. That's Sam Ashworth's daddy to you kids, but that is a story for next year. Lyrically, this would have to be considered a gospel album rather than something falling into the dreaded CCM genre. The songs are all written and arranged by Maeve and are as close to being perfect as you can get. For those unfamiliar with the group let me make a comparison if I may. Rather than the typical one lead vocalist with two backup singers, the girls have opted for somewhat complex vocal interplay similar to what is being done by The Lost Dogs. The girls have surrounded themselves by some of Boston's greatest musicians and the result is an album of the highest quality. Not only is the album a delight to listen to but it is great from a spiritual perspective too. By the way all three ladies have solo projects available which you can find out about through their web site which is www.maevemusic.com. Chris Macintosh aka Grandfather Rock
