Strong Tower Artist: McAllister Label: Independent Tracks: 11 Once upon a time a long long time ago there was a magical place called the "Eighties" Into this magical place there gathered a Flock, whose number was, 14 and they lived together in a brave new world. After awhile the flock moved on and settled into a World Theatre. Then there was silence for quite a number of years. Eighteen years to be exact, it has been eighteen years since Tim McAllister released his last album. His name popped up on a few of the early Over The Rhine albums but nothing from the man himself. That is until now. Strong Tower is the first release from Tim McAllister in almost two decades. Was it worth the wait? Yes and no! This is an absolutely fantastic album, it is just a shame that it took so long to get here. Sandin Wilson plays fretted & fretless bass and Bob Sabel contributes drums otherwise Tim handles just about everything else. There are a few guest appearances by Linford Detweiler, Paul Mazzio and Kathy Duncan added for good measure. This album evokes a sense of sadness and longing in certain spots which can almost bring one to tears. It is not a collection of happy or joyous tunes, yet it is an album which is filled with the reality of a life worth living. I love this album and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves great music and honest writing. The writing, playing, singing, production, everything concerned with this album just screams professionalism at its best. Hunt this album down, get it and revel in its wonder.
