Dream
Again
Artist: Phil Keaggy http://www.PhilKeaggy.com Label: Strobie Record Length: 12 tracks/46:01 Phil Keaggy, legendary guitarist and songwriter, Grammy nominee and Dove winner has released his umpteenth album, Dream Again. This gathering of songs is a long look into the personal world of Phil Keaggy. A triumph on many levels, all that we love about Keaggy is here. You prefer the McCartney side? It can be heard throughout his music here, but especially on "Thank You For Today" and "There With You." You want the jammin' Phil-check out the last minute of "WHY" for a Cream/Beatles-Iike riff that begs to be fully developed. Acoustic Phil? "Traveling Light" is transporting with is transcendent acoustic leads. There is plenty his own voice, too. Sporting a world music sound, "Micah 6:8" he shares vocals with Alicia Keaggy. He keeps it in the family with Ian Keaggy playing guitar and singing on several tracks. The aforementioned "WHY" features Phil's rapped/spoken lyric dealing with questions like "Why is this planet hungry for war?Who has the right to shut the door on the poverty-stricken child I see? Why can't we help them, you and me?" and some controlled, but amazing, guitar work. The most personal songs are for his sisters "Kathy's Song" and "How Can I Thank You?" and revival "Redemption," and "Revive Me." The closing song, "Love Is the Reason," sums up the whole theme of this project. "God is so good. I remember the touch of His love, of His grace. All that I longed for, all that I dreamed for, I find revealed in your face." I suspect that this song, along with "There With You," are for his wife as well as the Lord. A brave move, laying his heart out for all to see. But hearing him talk over these things from the inside helps us understand that we are not alone here, that we are more alike than we think. Dream Again connects us all in life on this side. Bob Felberg
