Pages Artist: Shane and Shane Label: Inpop Records Length: 15 Tracks/60.57 Minutes Shane and Shane create a unique, interactive musical and visual worship experience with Pages. The album features 60 minutes of pop-rock worship with an acoustic foundation that alternates between gentle and anthemic. The lead off-track "Vision of You" starts with a soothing acoustic feel and swells into a chorus of praise. Cut 2 is titled "Beg" and features a nice blue-eyed soul vocal turn by the Shanes, some banjo backing (always a cool and different sound in a pop-rock song) and the admonishment to move beyond "cute little works about how I'm saved" and "beg for YOU to break through." The music is catchy, dreamy, moody and melodic acoustic pop-rock and that is mostly satisfying and only slightly too mellow and meandering in spots. Pages is unique for its honest and creative lyrical content and its catchy CD package. As you might guess, Pages refers to the pages of a journal (with pictures) that are nicely reproduced in the prerelease packet as well as the Shane and Shane's excellent interactive web site. The combination of winning lyrics, eye-grabbing art, and web 2.0 interactively make for a complete package that sets a creative standard for believer's art.
