Maeve
Community Coffee House
Danbury, CT.
March 15th, 2008

Absolute perfection in every way possible is the only way to describe the performance by Maeve that I saw last night! I had seen the band once before about five years ago at a gig in New York City and remember being very impressed by them back then. What would this night be like though? I had heard about the Community Coffee House in Danbury, CT. for the past few years, as a good place to see a concert, but had never made the effort to make the road trip to get there. Maeve being based out of Boston rarely makes it south to New York. So when I saw they were but a mere ninety minute drive away on a Saturday night my mind was made up.

I gathered together a group of like-minded music lovers and we headed out for an evening of music and merriment. The trip proceeded without much traffic and we arrived in time to go to a local place  called "Elmo's Diner" to grab a bite to eat before the show. After dinner we headed over to the concert venue, an old church building with great acoustics, very nice indeed.

Maeve is a female trio consisting of Rollyn Zoubek on vocals, guitar and percussion, Courtney Reid on vocals, guitar and percussion and Rachel Taylor on vocals, guitar, keyboards and percussion. Rather than one lead singer with two backup vocalists the girls trade off lead vocals as well as backing each other up. If you are at all familiar with the music of The Lost Dogs then you will understand what I mean. Intricate harmonies crisp instrumentation and intelligent lyrics are all part of the Maeve repertoire. The girls were particularly tight this night in every way from their playing to singing to the between song banter. The song list for the night consisted of:
"Fill This House"
"Tell It To Jesus"
"Found A Love"
"Return To Me"
"Something More"
"Sheltering Rock"
"Sapphire"
"Heavy On"
"Know The Lord"
" Do Not Hide"
"Unfailing Love"
"Be Thou My Vision"

If you are unfamiliar with Maeve then you need to check out their website at www.maevemusic.com. You need, if you are a lover of good music, to get their music and add it to your collection.
