Rock What You Got Artist: Superchick Label: Inpopl Records Length: 12 Tracks/36.05 Minutes Superchick returns with their signature brand of genre-hopping, youth group approved tunes on _Rock What You Got_. Superchick has made quite a splash over the years, selling over 700,000 albums and appearing on Christian radio across the world. Fans of the band will find a lot to love here, but may feel a wee bit short changed at the short 36 minute CD. Take out the remix, “intro” cut, and Guitar Hero novelty stuff at the end and the Rock What You Got clocks in at a very short 28 minutes. Rock What You Got is solidly produced and full of a combination of punchy in-your-face rock/rap anthems ("Rock What You Got") and the ballads (the tender acoustic Breath) folks expect from Superchick. Lyrically the album is encouraging and hopeful, with an emphasis on starting a love revolution, one person at a time. And the band continues to skew towards the feminine side from a lyrically perspective: “if every girl could see her beauty we would be an army.” "Rock What You Got" is fully of chugging guitars, electo-pop synth bits (and even some cool vocodoer/robo-voice stuff in “So Beautiful.” Bottom line: Current Superchick fans will love this, but wish for something longer after such a long wait for this new project. Fans of Skillet and Fireflight will enjoy the dramatic rock of "One More." Barry Nothstine hosts Soul Frequency Radio
