Wreckage (The Best Of & The Rest Of) Artist: Titanic Label: ©2007 Retroactive Records URL: www.houseofmetal.net/titanic Formed in 1995, this Las Vegas heavy metal band has much in common stylistic with some of the classic influences of Barren Cross, Bloodgood, and Stryper. This is a compilation from three previous releases, Maiden Voyage, Screaming In Silence, and Full Steam Ahead. There are also four previously unreleased tracks, with Robert Sweet, of Stryper fame, pounding the skins. Lead vocalist, Simon “Keith Miles” Taylor, has a heavy metal/hard rock style reminding me a little of Ratt, Poison, and Barren Cross mixed in a stew. The backbone is handled aptly by Bill Menchen’s blazing guitar, Ray Kilsdonk on bass, and Tim Palmatier on drums. Since this is a best of release, it is hard to pinpoint standout tracks, but nevertheless “The Sea,” “Gods of War,” “Freak Show,” and “Ocean Of Blood” stand out in this reviewer’s opinion. The metal in me has been reignited. I am glad to have discovered these guys. thecannyshark
