The
Crossing - March 2009
Here’s how you have a good
month of March:
Kick it off with the biggest
band in the world...U2 and their new album No Line on the Horizon.
Add five consecutive appearances of the Irish foursome on Late Night with
David Letterman. Stir in new releases by Irish greats Luka Bloom and the
Saw Doctors just in time for St. Patrick’s day. Mix in some healthy variety
of Buddy & Julie Miller, The Decemberists and Blue October. Throw in
a fresh perspective of reality in Queensryche’s American Soldier.
Sprinkle in dashes of Neko Case, MGMT, Peter Bjorn & John and the Yeah
Yeah Yeah’s. Add a trifle of some reissued deluxe Motorhead. This is necessary
for a healthy balance! Call it the fiber of the month. Then, end the thirty-one
day stretch with an Academy Award Winner in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire
and you’ve got yourself a month that would be hard to beat. For seasoning
and taste, add anything else from the below list. Happy March! Happy Spring!

LYRICS of the MONTH:
A song about just how far
you’ve come...
“When I fell from grace
I never realized
How deep the flood was around
me,
A man whose life was toil
was like a kettle left to boil,
And the world left scars
on me,
I know now who I am,
If only for a while,
I recognize the changes,
I feel like I did before
the
Magic wore thin and the
‘baptism
of stains’ began
They used to say I was
Nowhere, man,
Heading down
Was my destiny,
But yesterday, I swear,
That was someone else not
me.
Here I stand at the crossroads
edge,
Afraid to reach out for
eternity,
One step, when I look down,
I see someone else not me,
Looking back and I see
Someone else.
All my life they said I
Was going down,
But I’m still standing,
Stronger, proud.
And today I know there’s
So much more I can be.
From where I stand at the
crossroads edge
There’s a path leading out
to sea.
And from somewhere
Deep in my mind,
Sirens sing out loud
Songs of doubt
As only they know how.
But one glance back reminds,
and I see,
Someone else not me.
I keep looking back
at someone else...me?”
Chris DeGarmo & Geoff
Tate of Queensryche, the song “Someone Else?” off the album Promised
Land released in 1994. The song is available on the album as a piano
version, but is also available as a full-band version.
April come she will...
